	Big Changes Afoot! Jottings Moving to New Server & Platform This is kind of big news for me since Jottings has been a semi regular part of my life since July of 2001. I'm switching servers and I'm switching blogging platforms and you, dear readers, get the easter eggs. So, it's been a little over six years since I moved from the original Blogger (pre-google) over to PHP-Nuke and I think maybe it's time at last to move on to something more evolved. So I've settled on WordPress (didn't need the complexity of joomla) and have managed to migrate over everything I've ever posted since this site went live in February of 2004. (I'm so psyched that the data wrangling worked!) Now the entire 2,400 post history of Jottings is up and running at the new site. Best of all, there are some significant advantages to the new system. Much easier to browse content by topic. iPhone friendly version of the site runs like a native app on the phone. WAY cool. One click to share with all your favorite social networks. (facebook, twitter, etc.) The new Jottings will live on my business server which is hosted by the fabulous folks at JustHost. I don't get any money for the plug, I just think they are a ridiculously good deal.) The bottom line is that this site will be around for a little while while I clean house and shut things down, but at this point everything has move to: Our New Location graphicpanacea.com/jottings

	I Stand Corrected McCain did NOT pay more for makeup and hair than Palin. As it turns out, Palin's makeup artist is the highest paid staffer in the entire McCain campaign. She hauled in $22,800 for two weeks work. But even this seems extreme for a campaign that has valued image over substance so much.

	Jottings Reaches Half-Million Pageview Milestone Sometime this morning, Jottings passed 500,000 page views since the "new" site was set up in February of 2004. While this is no big deal to larger sites who may see this kind of traffic in a week or even a day, it's kinda cool that my lil' ole' blog has hit that milestone. Pop some champagne or smoke 'em if ya got 'em. See ya at 1 Million.

	Storm Knocks Out Power to 500,000 Homes in St. Louis Jottings will be back online when the power returns. Stay cool, people. UPDATE: Still no power, so Jottings is in exile. Right now I'm live-blogging from the Auset concert at Borders Brentwood. (I think that's a first for me.) Auset just mocked the "readers" in the crowd. UPDATE2: Came home from the Auset concert to find the power back on. Woo hoo! Also, the hot weather has finally lifted and it's a gorgeous weekend. I think a visit to the Festival of Nations in Tower Grove Park is called for.

	Jottings Reaches 100,000 Page Views Just a few minutes ago, the new Jottings server that went online Feb of 2004 served up it's 100,000th page view. As far as I can tell from the server logs, our 100,000th viewer was somebody locally with Charter cable as their ISP. (I won't post your IP address, I promise!) Thanks for all the support and keep those cards and letters coming.

	Jottings on Hiatus for Next Two Weeks Well, it's that time again. I'm off to the Black Rock Desert to UN-clutter my mind. Hopefully I can forget all about Chimpy McBush, peak oil, dead soldiers in Iraq, a busted deomcratic process, and all the other nightmares of conscious living. See ya all on the flipside. If I can get a live internet connection from the playa I'll try to report in once with a picture or two.

	'Classic' Jottings Online Again While searching for a story posted in July, 2003 on the old 'classic' Blogger version of Jottings, I discovered that the archives were no longer online. I have remedied the situation and you can find all the old posts (pre-February 2004) here. And if you're curious, the post I was looking for was the one entitled "The Wretched Reporting of Judith Miller". Miller was a true believer who grew fat on WMD tips from her sources inside Ahmad Chalabi's Iraqi National Congress organization, and that once in-country she threw a bit and saddle on the WMD detectives and rode them like Julie Krone from one end of Iraq to the other to investigate those tips.
